Musescore 4.0.2: Ties across bars fail (double note value)
Ties do work within a bar but when you try to put in a tie across a bar boundary, it doubles the value of the source note and fails to do a tie.
Undo does not undo this.
Noticed it first with a crotchet (quarter note) becoming a minim (see attached - notice the note values in the bar no longer add up to 4) but also happens with a half note becoming a whole note.

I'm in Mac OS Ventura 13.2.1
Score needed. But I guess you enabled Format > Style > Score > Display note values across measure boundaries (EXPERIMENTAL, early music only!)

I am working on Handel's Messiah so, yes, I did turn that feature on as I needed a double note at one point! Turning it off fixes it.

Then you need to decide whether you need that feature and libe with workarounds on places where you don't, like using slures instead or ties.
