latest version is not the latest i've saved.

When I finished working this afternoon I've saved the file multiple times. this evening I've restarted my mac for the OS update and also updated musescore to the latest verison 4.0.2.
Somehow now when i open the file or the autosave file they're way older versions than what I have saved last this afternoon. where has my work gone from a few hours ago? I'm 100% sure I've saved it.
