Accordion chords

these were present as discrete sounds in MuseScore 3, thru the Mixer, but I don't see them in MuseScore 4

I'm not sure what you about accordion chords in the Mixer - you mean something separate from just plain accordion sound? Maybe some specific soundfont you used provided those as separate sounds?

In MuseScore3, add Accordion as a part. Add a chord to the bass line (ctrl-K), then open the Mixer. The chord voice is listed as "Acc.-harmony, " and any instrument can be selected. There are, I believe, 4 choices for accordion sounds in MuseScore 3. These soundfonts are presets in the application

Do the same in MuseScore4. Now the selection is "Chords.Accordion." But the instrument selections are now "Grand Piano" (default), "Muse Sounds" (no accordion selection) and "Sound Fonts" (MS Basic, which is empty).

I've attached screen shots of each as well as a sample score.

BTW, having played accordion for almost 60 years, the entire accordion soundfont is pitched an octave higher than it actually sounds on an accordion. It's a little tricky, because an accordion is a multiple reed instrument. The soundfont appears to be based on the middle reed. Probably difficult to separate the reed voices, but it would be important going forward to implement user selection of each reed voice (optimally, 4 in the treble and 5 in the bass)

As far as I can tell those are all the same sound, just with different effects applied, and with versions to support single note dynamics or not which is no longer relevant in MU4. But I see what you mean that you can't select the accordion sound directly for chord symbols. Instead of the single MS Basic soundfont, you'll want this collection that has all the sounds as separate files - https://community.masteringmusescore.com/c/resources/ms-basic-individua…
Or any other accordion-specific soundfont, or - new with MU4 - you could get better results still with a VST instrument.
