Creating a tempo marking for 5/8
I was wondering how I can go about making a tempo marking along the lines of "dotted quarter tied to a quarter = x tempo" for a 5/8 time signature?

In theory, you could assemble markings like this with symbols from the "Special characters" palette (press Shift+F2 while editing to display). You'd have to hunt through the musical symbols section to pull it off and it might be tricky with the alignment. In practice, it might be easier to just create the notation on a staff with invisible lines, grab a screen shot, and paste in the graphic.
Visually you can put in a dotted quarter tempo marking and then edit that to add a quarter note to the left (e.g. by copying the dotted quarter without its dot, and pasting it). But it's not great because:
• The program plays the music as if the tempo applied only to the dotted quarter, rather than the whole measure (thus too slowly).
• If there's a way to tie the two notes visually, I have not found it
