Accelerando not consistent with Specified Final Tempo

I'm trying to generate an accelerando as illustrated in the attached graphic (the red markings are mine not Musescore's) wherein the tempo increases from 96 bpm at the start to 150 bpm at Rehearsal Letter E . However the tempo only increases by 8 bpm per measure. As a result there is an abrupt shift from 128 bpm at the end of the measure just before Rehearsal Letter E to 150 bpm.

Is there a way to ensure a smoother transition from 96 bpm to 150 bpm?
