Lag in playback when moving with right/left arrow keys is GREATER after pause
In 4.2
Have a score with many notes (horizontally) interspersed with occasional pauses
Click one, it will play back after some lag
now keep pressing the right or left arrow key
You should notice that the lag on the next notes will be lesser, unless you pass through highlighting a pause, in which case it will be much greater - upwards of 1 second or more. That will sometimes lead it to pile up with later playbacks and cause audio stutters

No lag on my system. Not at the start of playback or however fast I push the arrows. May I ask why you are doing this?

Pressing the arrows? To navigate to do anything to notes, and to recap the sound of a chord progression without activating the whole main playback system, so I can keep hearing it over and over at the tempo I want

You can create a loop of the section you want to hear. Select the measures and hit the loop icon next to the play button.

Playback is at tempo and not at will, and mouse selection is very finnicky in MS4. Keyboard navigation is just better.
