Spliting a single measure across systems?

I format choral music for my visually impaired wife. Lyrics and most text need to be enlarged while the staffs and notes don't require as much for her to understand the music. Occasionally, the lyrics of a single measure need more space the the width of the system provides. I've tried staggering the text but that doesn't always work since the text placement is limited by the note they're attached to. Is there a way to spilt the measure across systems?
