spitfire labs no longer working in musescore4

• Aug 30, 2024 - 16:56

I'm so tired of not getting any answers. Go here, go there go everwhere to post your question get no answer.

Since spitfire labs updated their FREE labs libraries, it stopped working musescore 4. I've contacted spitfire and their response is that it is on your end because you seem to be the only one that is having problems with it not working.

I also have a paid for version that works. It's affected my compositoins. Not to happy about that.

as a disabled artist I'm on a VERY tight budget and appreciate free software.

I wish you would contact them and work with them on fixing the issue.

They are one in few in the vst sample library companies that offer FREE and update it.

It sounds odd that the paid version works and the free version does not. To me that would point to spitfire as they made the paid version work and probably added something to the free version, which makes it no longer compatible. Glad to report I got it working on my system.

It seems that the "upgrade" performed by Spitfire Labs is not removing all old data. In my mixer I had two lines for LABS plus 1 for LABS (64-bit) and 1 for BBCSO 64-bit.
My DAW was also not showing the new LABS.....so not sure who else to blame then Spitfire.

I uninstalled the new Labs and after this I manually removed the old LABS VST files (vst2 + vst3).
Now I installed the new Labs again.
After this I did a restore factory setting in MS, to force it to reload/check all VSTs avaiable.
And after all that the Spitfire Labs is working again in MS4.

Not sure which steps made it working, hence why I wrote down what I did to make it working.

Do you have the same experience that there are multiple LABS listed in the Mixer under the VST3 -> Spitfire Audio?

To add, I removed the old LABS vst files from the following folders:
C:\Program Files\Common Files\VST3
C:\Program Files\VstPlugins

In theory on the first folder should make a difference as MS only works with VST 3.

Please check this page: https://musescore.org/en/handbook/4/working-vst-and-vsti
On how to force MS to re-read all VSTs, might be an easier test instead of the restore of the factory settings.

PS> I am also using Windows 11

BBC Orchestra works in 4.4.

Please don't forget that there is no paid staff on the forums. Just bunch of users like yourself. If you got no answer before, it was likely because no one on the forum at that time had an answer. I'm only answering because the only Spitfire font I have is BBC. It may not help at all. I also don't much care for it.
