Writing out subdivisions that are not played
Is there any way to write, in a fairly readable manner, a syncopated rhythm with it's not played subdivisions as well as the ones that are played? This is common in modern percussion notation, especially in teaching material (attached screenshot). I want to be able to notate like this, or in someway equally readable for strings.
I've tried beaming over 16th note breaks (attached screenshot) which looks messy. I've also tried all kinds of different ways of writing it out with full note lengths, but these both look messy and show the wrong note lengths.

Write with noeheads and make them invisible and silent
Write the passage with all the notes visible.
Go to VIEW - Properties - Note - Head - Hide noteheads.
Click on all the noteheads you want to become invisible.
Look a little higher on the properties and find GENERAL
Unclick VISIBLE and that should give you the result. Jeff
