Exported part layout differs from what gets displayed in the editor V4.4.3 (Windows)

I have a four part arrangement and want a pdf of one of the parts. So I hided the three voices that I did not want to export. The only left voice spreads over two pages but the second page is half empty. So I tweaked the scaling until both pages are equally filled. When exporting this the output gets transformed and looks very different than what I see in the editor. Even the page break is totally different. When printing into a pdf it looks exactly I expected, though.

Is this a feature or a bug? I think I remember that it is recommended using export over print function. Is this still true? And if, is there any means to preserve the layout decision that is seen on the screen when exporting to pdf?

I have attached minimized screen copies of printed and exported output to demonstrate the difference.

These are not the same instruments.

Create parts for your instruments and leave the score alone, do not hide any instruments. Then open the parts and format them as you wish. And now you can print the parts or output them as a PDF. They will appear on the paper or in the PDF sheet exactly as you see them on the screen.
