Appearance of pedal line
Can somebody please look at the last two measures of this score? The pedal line there is without the word "Ped." I can't figure out why I did wrong all of a sudden. I am using version 4.4.2

Seems the beginning and continuing text are set empty for the pedalmark.
Not sure how you got into this, as it does not seem possible in the GUI to make it the default in the style not to have this text. Perhaps the score is imported/copied?
Anyway to fix this, select the pedal mark and add the following to the beginning text:
< sym > keyboardPedalPed < / sym > <=== Remove the spaces
Once you have added this, click the 3 dots at the right to the beginning text and select the option to save as default style for this score.
Would be good to know what you may have done to get into this situation, but at least you can fix it.

Thanks! I got as far as getting a ped. in place but in standard font which looks very strange in the context. I followed your instructions and it looks fine. Do I do that for every pedal line until musescore 5 arrives?

Attached the score which I have updated for you.
You should not have to do that, what happens when you make a new score and add a pedal line?
Also good to know, how did you create this score?
Did you import a musicxml fiile?
Did you start with a template?
Did you start from an older score? Perhaps from an older MS version?

Thank you very much for all your effort. The main thing now is to know how to fix the problem when it arises.
Here is what I did: I typeset the score from the composer's autograph in MS3, not using a template, and posted it to IMSLP about a year ago. Now I needed to correct some transcription errors that have been pointed out to me. I opened my old files (not the xml source files I posted to IMSLP) in MS4 and began to work on the corrections. Then the pedal-less pedal line caught my attention.

Okay, thanks for the steps. It helps when people remember what they did.
So I have just tested this scenario and it seems to work fine (at least with the current versions of MS3 and MS4 I have used).
I can't tell what may or may not have happened in the past to this.
When I download the xml from IMSLP and open in MS4, I do see a pedal marking with text. But not sure if that help knowing.
In MS3 the same logic was used for pedal marking as in MS4. Though the reset to style standard in MS3 is actually removing the Ped text from the marking.
If this occurs more often and you have a way of reproducing it, perhaps an issue can be raised for the developers to investigate.
BTW, another tip to fix this issue (and maybe others that might occur) is to use the Reset all to standard options, but at the same time that might change more in the score layout and is perhaps not ideal to use.
Last thing to say, another option is to keep using MS3 for doing minor updates/modifications to existing scores to prevent under wanted changes like this to occur.
Hope you won't have this issue often.

I can verify that in 4.4.3 the leading Ped is left out when I add the marking to a score. I did your fix. The Ped was added. I closed the score and opened a different score and added the Ped marking. the the leading Ped was there. It might be that even though the fix says it is for the original score, it fixes it when added to future scores.
