improvement of Layers
on the handbook page of layer I post a comment about improving it (with also ideas from some one else)
Before reading the doccument I was thinking as a feature request, we could had layer for
* dynamics and/or articulation (in some "old" score, dynamics /articulation are added by editions ....)
There are already implemented for
* fingering
And you suggest
* figured bass
There may also be on the same "way":
* Jazz accord on a "complete" sheet (as we often see for songs with piano written and guitar chords written by letter or "designed" )
* other chord number (like figured bass but moderns one !)
It may then be a "view" menu, and not just a "fingering option"
Could it be a GSoC 2015 ?

Except if we missed something the layer feature is completely disabled for MuseScore 2.0. Where is the handbook page you are referring to?

It is available as an experimental feature, using the -e switch

Then maybe we should compile this feature out instead of hiding it behind the -e flag. MuseScore is complex enough and so the handbook too without adding more confusion and complexity.

If you want that page in the handbook, just tell us. That question had been asked quite a while ago, http://musescore.org/en/node/38076#comment-166311 and had remained unanswered since ;-)
If the feature may be used in a further version (I mean after 2.0) of Musescore, maybe we should keep the page somewhere but hidden....?
I thought it was a nice feature, but may be too complicated to keep here....

We could just comment out the link to it on http://musescore.org/en/handbook-2.0 and http://musescore.org/en/node/36581 and remove it from the outline.
I did that just now...

The feature being experimental, I believe it could be improved after 2.0 or not. If the feature is improved, it could be that the implementation is completely different and so scores with layers may not open in a future release. So to me it's safer to not document it, at least not in the Advanced topic section.
