How to add a tempo text like Allegro,... to musescore2 scores
In mscore-1... it is possible to add a tempo text to a score, but I did not find such a feature in mscore-2 (for example nightliy build 9d4efe8). The only thing I can do is selecting tempo marker from the menu "Add->text->tempo marking" offering things like "...=80", but there I can't select things like Allegro,...
How to achive this?
On the other hand, opening a mscore-1 score by mscore-2 recognizes tempo text like allegro. Why then it's impossible to use such a notation im mscore-2?

Is a novelty. Have a look at the manual 2.0, I hope it is useful for you

Those predefined Allegro, Andante etc. tempo tests are gone. Instead the note = frequency things are now in the Tempo palette and allow for deriving the temp from the text. You can modify that text, be prepending Allegro to it and the automatic recognition would still work. Or replace it with Allegro and set the tempo to go along with it in Inspector, there you can also toggle whether tempo should follow the tempotext (i.e. detect the note = frequency stuff)

Thank you for the hint. Works!

could you explain how to connect the text with the marking, so, for example, when you type allegro it will recognize it

Try first creating the tempo as "quarter note = 132" (or whatever your desired tempo is), and then changing the text to read "Allegro."

thanks.

Yes, but where do you actually find the tempo text markings like Allegro, Andante, Moderato, etc?

You haven't read the rest if this thread, have you?

Whole thread, and all the links at least twice. Still don't understand :/
There is no option to edit the text in the Inspector.... No field.
I think I also don't understand what you mean by Tempo Marking and Tempo Text. Is there a difference between the two or not? And which text is supposed to be followed. There is the option to change style of the Text, but you can't change the Text itself?

LoL, this is maybe getting ridiculous, but I don't understand what text. There is no text, and I don't see any option to input, insert, edit, toggle, modify any kind of text that's related to tempo.
In which of these two submenus you add that Text?
It seems like there are two options?
1. You enter the Tempo text ( but I don't know where.)
You check 'Follow Text' which greys out BPM input, implicating that Numerical Tempo Values will not be regarded, but that some sort of Textual Tempo Marks will be used.

To edit the tempo text: double click onto the text field (or via right click->edit element or select it and press Ctrl+E)

Yes but what text field? That's what I'm asking from the beginning. I see no option to make any kind of Text field that's related to tempo.
Are you maybe talking about General Text Field like in the attached image?

No, the one above, Tempo.

Ok, but the Tempo Palette has no option to make a Tempo Text (Legato, Allegro, etc..). It just adds a Tempo Marking in the form of BPM. Where do you find a dropdown menu (or whatever) to choose a Tempo Text?
And can that Tempo Text be interpreted by the software, or is it just for the printing purpose?
Or do you mean I should make a Tempo Marking, than delete all the symbols and manually type the Tempo Text instead of it?

And via double click you can add/edit the text as desired, please read again the section of the handbook: https://musescore.org/en/handbook/tempo#tempo-marking). No further staff or system text is needed.
Btw: you've to add it with the keyboard, there's no dropdown menu in MuseScore 2.1.

Ok, I think I understand. The software documentation makes no difference between a Tempo Marking and Tempo Text? It is the same object?

Yes.

Nice, thanks. So I simply add a Tempo Marking with Alt+t, then delete symbols inside that Marking and add desired text inside it.
Can software recognize keywords (like Allegro, Lento , etc) and link it up to certain predefined BMP values, or is that text just for the printing?

You need to set the BPM on those, Musescore has no way knowing how fast
you want e.g. Allegro to play

Select the tempo text and open the inspector. Remove the check from follow tempo and enter the tempo you want to use. The tempo is always based on a quarter note.
