option to keep only one palette open at a time
This functionality existed during much of the development period leading to 2.0. When it was selected, only one palette could be expanded; when you clicked on a different palette to open it, the one previously in use automatically collapsed.
I miss it. It's not a big deal, but I do miss having the option to work in that mode.

Never noticed that option, but second that request too

I must be losing it! I knew this issue had a familiar ring to me, but I had no idea I'd mentioned it in a forum post just seven months ago.
#31441: Single Palette Mode' now unavailable?
I also found in that brief thread a succinct statement of why I considered Single Palette Mode useful:
"I generally do use more than one Palette at once, but I find that the convenience of having them open simultaneously is outweighed by the inevitable need to keep scrolling the Palette panel to get to the one I need."
This sounds very useful and I'd love to see it return, but please make it optional! I often use a large external monitor and I like to have lots of tools accessible. The option could be toggled via a right-click menu or set automatically depending on the size of the current window/monitor. I believe Inkscape uses a similar algorithm where expanding a pallet doesn't collapse old pallets until a scroll bar needs to be created.
I miss this option, too. Especially useful on small screens.

Implemented this morning! :) https://github.com/musescore/MuseScore/commit/ed6ce92efa19269b1f0914d71…
After some tests: really very useful. Thanks for the good idea and its implementation:)
You have only to do right-click on "Palettes", and tick (or not) "Single Palette"

That is really brilliant! (My initial reaction was actually to wonder what happened to the list that was previously available by right-clicking in this spot - but I wasn't taking into account that it was actually shared by all of the menu bars at the top of the screen and therefore still easily obtained by right-clicking on any of them.)
@cadiz1 - I am so appreciative that you could attend to this so quickly. I never knew why this functionality disappeared previously, so I am definitely hoping that it survives to the release of 2.1!
