Notating Spiccato
Is it possible to notate Spiccato with Musescore?
The Palette has pretty much every articulation imaginable but I can't find this.

I've searched the support pages extensively but can only find a mention from 2009 which doesn't seem to apply any more.

Check whether you find it in the (huge) Symbols table of the master Palette.
I'm not an expert, but I *think* the "staccatissimo" (7th element on palette in Advanced workspace) is the symbol to use. Different music fonts display this symbol differently, so you could try "Style / General / Musical symbols font" to see if one happens to have a shape you like.

They should be equivalent:

Spiccato: It should be for Strings
Staccato: for example, for Woodwinds

no. strings can play both, staccato and spiccato. When playing staccato the bow stops and stays on the string and for spiccato the bow is lifted from the string and the sound dies. Both are short but there is a audible difference. ;)
