Surround mixing
Hi, Gang!!!
Is it possible to create a surround audio mixing directly from MuseScore? ???
I'm talking about to distribute the spatial position of the instruments (sounds) to a 5.1 audio channel configuration (as it looks, the today MuseScore mixer just allows to distribute between Left and Right output audio channel).
If it isn't possible... Will it be a future request? ???
Greetings!!!
Juan

I think it's unlikely Juan.
MIDI just doesn't have surround sound control messages.
All you have is the Pan controller (#10) for positioning left/right on the soundstage.
It is possible to use the Reverb Wet/Dry control to move instruments backwards and forwards in the soundstage, but currently the internal effects can only be used against the Master Buss, although I believe Werner has plans to implement them on a Channel basis.
Really if you're wanting to do Surround stuff you're better exporting to a third party DAW capable of working with 5/1 channels.
Unless you are working for video, it probably isn't necessary anyway.
Most of the listeners will be hearing your music on a Car stereo or (even worse) the cheap ear buds supplied with iPhone and Android devices.

Thanks for your words!!!
I already use your way (I use Adobe Audition to mix the final surround file).
I know most of people doesn't discover the funny and powerful surround sound from and into the PCs through a good hometheatre device. And I know most of people really think they are hearing the best audio from the "modern" devices (like MP3s and cellphones). It's a pity!!!
BUT... I think it isn't a MIDI issue (because I understand that MuseScore doesn't use the standard MIDI system). I think it is just a MuseScore mixer subcode limitation (I know I'm not a programmer, I just guess).
Well, if someone of the MuseScore programmers "hearing" this, please, Can you try it into a future version? ??? (Anyway, I hope the surround sound will win the final battle, hehehe).
Greetings!!!
Juan
