Note Heads in Drum Notation

I'm trying to write drum notation. When writing for the hi-hat, I cannot replace the note head with the x symbol. It just overlays an x symbol over the note head itself, so that both are visible.

Is there a way to actually replace the note head?

Don't use the Symbols palette. If you use the NoteHeads palette instead, it will replace the notehead. Note that drum notation is incomplete in 0.9.3.

In version 0.9.3 drum notation works best using a MIDI keyboard (for example, note heads for high-hat change automatically). Support for drum notation input via mouse is under development in the 0.9.4 prereleases and playback of drums works properly.
