Music XML in MuseScore 2.0.2 verses 1.3
I use Photo Score 8 to scan music into Music XML format.
When I open the XML file in MuseScore 1.3, it opens immediately..
When I open it in 2.0.2 I get three warning screens:
1. File 'C:/Users/Wayne Williams/Documents/M U S E S C O R E 2.0.2/XML
/Heart and Lips.xml' is not a valid MusicXML file
Do you want to try to load this file anyway? (I click "Yes")
2. File corrupted C:/Users/Wayne Williams/Documents/M U S E S C O R E 2.0.2/XML/Heart and Lips.xml (I click "Ignore")
3. File 'C:/Users/Wayne Williams/Documents/M U S E S C O R E 2.0.2/XML
/Heart and Lips.xml' is not a valid MusicXML file
Do you want to try to load this file anyway? (I click "Yes" again)
The file opens in good working order.
I prefer to edit with 2.0.2, but I am keeping version 1.3 as a backup in case I come across an XML file that won't open in 2.0.2 at all.
Is this a bug? or just a quirk?
BTW I am running Windows 10 Pro now but I had the same problem when I was running Windows 7 Professional.

MuseScore 2.0 verifies the XML files, 1.x didn't do that, hence no error Messages there...
The MusicXML import in MuseScore 2.0 gives a lot more information about the file you are trying to import so you know what's going on. The MusicXML import should be at least as good than in MuseScore 1.3.
1/ The first warning means that the file is not a standard MusicXML file. It doesn't follow the MusicXML specification to the letter. MuseScore will do its best to open this file if you click yes.
2/ In this case, not only the file is not a valid MusicXML file but it has also many measures containing too much or not enough music compared to the time signature. MuseScore lists them so you can take a look and fix them.
3/ If you press Ignore, the validation is redone and that's probably a little but indeed.

Thank you Jojo-Schmitz and lasconic for your quick replies.
I guess my next question would be: Is Photo Score 8 putting out bad XML? or am I doing something wrong?
I know this is not a Photo Score forum, but if anyone has an idea, I would be grateful.

For 1/, yes, definitely, the MusicXML file produced doesn't follow the MusicXML schema and it's not valid.
For 2/, it's debatable... MusicXML doesn't enforce complete measures while MuseScore does. By "complete measure" I mean that in MuseScore a 4/4 measures must contain the equivalent of 4 quarters notes, not more, not less.
