Real-time MIDI entry
I just started using MuseScore after years of working in Finale. Do I understand that real-time MIDI entry is not possible on MuseScore? In other words, I'd like to play parts in real time on my MIDI keyboard and have them recorded into MuseScore.
If this is possible, I'd appreciate a heads-up on how to do it. If it's not possible, it would be a great MuseScore addition. I understand that this method is not always 100% reliable. But entering a long musical part and then adjusting a few rhythms it is still much quicker than single-note entry—for me, anyway.
Thanks!

It is not possible
You can however record a MIDI file in your favorite sequencer then import that.
Since this is under "feature requests", I would like to put in a vote for a simple midi in- and output arrangement, e.g. in a potential MuseScore 3.
We know that note ENTRY with midi in is easily available in MuseScore 2. However, midi-out can only be enabled by a circuitious route. On Windows 8 I've managed to open up the midi-out channel by installing vista_midi plus Jack. Then, via the Preferences / I/O page, I enabled Jack, which enabled very good sound output via my midi piano, much better than any sound font I have so far tried (about 30). HOWEVER, once I'm finallly there with MuseScore, I can no longer use the piano to enter notes. Of course, this defeats the whole purpose.
So here is my vote in favor of easy midi-in and midi-out connectivity, as they are available in most paid-for composition programs. I am aware of the complexity of this within a multi-platform environment. But since musicians as a whole are very picky about sound output, this feature request will easily gain the support of a great many MuseScore users.
