Help Please!
Hi
I am very new to this and all I am trying to do is write out a simple piece of music! However the score keeps putting in rests where I don't want them and then won't let me put in the notes that I do want to! I appreciate it is probably trying to be helpful but after 2 hours trying to write 4 bars on 2 staves I am at the end of my tether!
I am copying a handwritten music score written by a music teacher so I know it is correct - how can I put in the notes as they appear on the handwritten score?!!
Any help appreciated!

Hi
I have looked at the handbooks, I might be being impatient as I thought this would be quite a simple task! Attached is the music I am trying to copy - it is the last section of a song but in an new arrangement - does it look complicated to write?

Looks pretty straight forward. Needs voices though, see https://musescore.org/en/handbook/voices-0
See attached, measure 5 is a bit tricky, not easy to read in the scan.

Hi Jojo
Your help is very much appreciated - thank you. Now I just need to figure out how to do the first part so I have it all on one score!
Thank you!
If you posted what you have so far and explained in more detail what you are habing trouble with, we could probably help more. Buit generally, it works to simply enter notes and rests left to write just like typing text.
If the problem is too many rests then you can always hide the unnecessary ones using the Inspector (untick the "visible" checkbox).
It is standard practice in many scores to miss out some rests, or to combine rests from different voices, if the placement of the missing rests is obvious in the context of the surrounding notes. However, it would be very difficult for MuseScore to judge which rests are "unnecessary". In fact, if you have multiple voices then, according to music theory, each voice needs a full measure's worth of notes or rests. MuseScore adds rests to each voice automatically to pad out the full bar.
