Problems with 1st and 2nd time repeat bars
I am struggling to get 1st and 2nd time bars working when there are multiple repeats in the score. The first occasion works correctly, but the second and further time there is a 1st/2nd time repeat combination both bars are played. I am using Musescore 3.5.2. The origin of the score is an imported music xml file. I have distilled the problem down to a single stave example as attached. I need to know what to do to get the 2nd and additional 1st/2nd time combinations to work correctly in the full score. If anyone can help I would be very pleased. Thanks

You seem to have encountered the "double click trap". If you select the first second time volta and drag it upwards slightly you will see there is another volta line hidden beneath it (see the screenshot). If you delete that everything seems to work ok (for me it does anyway).
The problem arises because the way pallet items like lines can be added to a score was changed from requiring a double click to only requiring a single click. However, muscle memory kicks in and it is so easy to use a double rather than a single click. This then adds two version of what you are trying to add and they are superimposed on each other so that you can't tell there are two of them. Recent effort has been put into dealing with eliminating the problems caused by having duplicate elements, whereas in my opinion (which counts for no more than anyone else's) it would have been better spent trying to prevent duplicate items being added in the first place.
