Rest values
Would appreciate your clarification on this:
Please see attached score sheet. The Time Signature is 6, 8. The first two bars in the Soprano line have full bar rest, i.e. six beats rest. Then why is a semibreve rest shown (which is only 4 beats rest)? Alternatively it should have 3 rest signs of crochet symbol. Kindly explain. Thanks.

It is not a semibreve rest. If it was, it would be left-aligned in the measure.
That same symbol center aligned in a measure is called a "measure rest" and always has the duration of the full measure.

Thank you. Now it makes sense.

Also note that if the measure rest was "spelled out" in full, in the vast majority of cases it would be spelled as dotted crotchet, dotted crotchet or crotchet, quaver, crotchet, quaver and not 3 crotchets as you suggest.
