Unable to playback or hear audio in latest update

• May 28, 2021 - 19:16

Hi,

I just updated to the most recent version of Musescore and I am unable to hear any notes when I click on them, and am not even able to playback a score. Is there something in my settings (I'm on Mac) that I can check or is this a bug with the release?

I have the same problem. Am on Windows 10 but for me the playback button is greyed out and cannot select the mixer or synthesizer options. I've tried everything there already but still does not work. I tried factory reset many times but still does not work. In Preferences, I/O I cannot see anything and when I press "Restart Audio And MIDI Devices" it doesn't do anything.

To test, don't use any bluetooth or plugin device. Make sure output is set for your computer speakers or built in audio. Now open MuseScore and check in I/O. Pretty much if something is listed, you should have sound. If not, restart your Mac and try again. After you get sound working and you wish to use Bluetooth headphones, make sure you connect them to your computer before you start MuseScore.

If there is nothing listed in I/O, that probably means Musescore can't find whatever you are using for audio. Might be a driver problem. If you are using an external audio interface, try disconnecting everything that isn't built in. Restart the computer and see what happens. If you have sound then MuseScore is not the problem.

I updated my driver recently and for me only musescore does not have sound, everything else has sound. I have had this bug since last December but now that I am composing more complex scores and can't play them out, I have been having more and more issues with this.

I updated my driver because in the older driver, I also could not playback and I thought it was the driver problem so I updated it but it did not work.
OS: Windows 10 (10.0), Arch.: x86_64, MuseScore version (64-bit): 3.6.2.548021803, revision: 3224f34
I do not understand what you mean by audio setup, could you please elaborate, thanks.

" I thought it was the driver problem so I updated it but it did not work."

Again, what driver did you update? You said that I/O was blank and you updated a driver. That leads me to believe that you aren't using onboard sound. But, rather, an external audio interface. If not, what made you think there was a driver problem?
