lAYOUT PROBLEM PIANO/STRINGS
HELLO FORUM, Layout not good. Should be able to get at least 2 systems on one page. Also, It would be nice if the Piano had a little more space (Stretch) from the Basses above it. I clicked on Stretch thing but couldn['t get it to do anything. Thank You

You have no music entered at all and wish to make formatting decisions at this stage?
Well, if so, use menu item Format -> Style -> Page and click 'Enable vertical justification of staves'.
Be aware, though, that once you start adding notes (especially with leger lines), hairpins, dynamics, etc. you may not be able to maintain 2 systems per page without bigger paper or smaller scaling.
First update to 3.6.2 (from 3.2.3)

Stretch is horizonally, not vertically, so makes measures wider or narrower, it does not change staff or system distance.
Also doing any layout tweaks prior to having entered the notes is pretty pointless
As mentioned, trying to make layout decisions on an empty score seldom makes sense - decisions that make it look better will typically make the real score look worse. Best to wait util you have music entered to worry about things like that. But, in this case, I'd also challenge your basic assumption. No, with your currently page size and staff size, it's actually not reasonable to expect two systems per page. Do the math if you like, it won't add up. You will need smaller staves or larger paper to get the music to fit. You can temporarily get an empty score to fit by changing the settings relating to spacing between the staves, but again, that will only work while the staves are empty and there is room to squeeze the staves closer together than what you have. In order to get two systems of actual music to fit, though, you'll need to change some sizes - spacing changes won't be enough.

It does fit in 3.6.2, using the default setting of that version though

Right, but as mentioned, probably only if the score is empty. It does this by defaulting to a super-crowded staff spacing, which is fine for empty scores but as soon as you add notes and markings, that staff spacing will increase to avoid collisions and it almost certainly won't fit anymore. I mean, it's certainly possible you'll get ,lucky on a system or two and there won't be any notes on ledger liens or dynamics or other markings that require extra space. But in practice, most pages will only fit one system.

Thanks for the good ideas to all-- I have a lot of the music already notated on music MS paper manually. This is a more Baroque -styl e concerto and has a more or less constant stream of 16th notes in the first movement. I think what I should do is just have bigger paper ,taller and wider so 2 systems would quite often fit at least.
