Never seen that feature in MuseScore 3.3.4! What does it exactly do?

For most purposes, it doesn't matter to MuseScore whether a key signature of, say, two sharps means D major or B minor. But this could be useful info to export to a MusicXML file, and who knows, some day we might also use it to influence the default spelling of accidentals when entering pitches by MIDI or the Piano Keyboard. S this control lets you specify which it is (it also allows you to specify the various modes as possibilities).
Got implemented for #271505: Allow user to set mode along with key signature

Hi,
When I set the key signature mode in the Key Signature palette, say to minor for example, it resets to "Unknown" when I save the score :(
This is a super useful feature for exporting MIDI files. Please make it work. Pretty please?
Thanks,
OS: Linux Mint 18.2, Arch.: x86_64, MuseScore version (64-bit): 3.3.4., revision: 7684abe

Hmm, not sure it helps for MIDI, its purpose was for MusicXML.
But if it doesn't save that got to be a bug, please file in the issue tracker

Ok, thanks I will.
BTW: Yes, it does help for MIDI for sure. Key signatures are part of the MIDI specification and is set in the track meta data:
FF 59 02 sf mi
sf = -7: 7 flats
sf = -1: 1 flat
sf = 0: key of C
sf = 1: 1 sharp
sf = 7: 7 sharps
mi = 0: major key
mi = 1: minor key
So Am would be: FF 59 02 0 1

Ok, thanks for #304086: Cannot save the Key Signature Mode

Hi, I am using MuseScore 3.6.2. In this version I can set the mode of a key signature using the inspector, but the mode setting is not saved. I am generating music xml examples for teaching computer based analysis, and its important for us to have the mode in the xml so a program can easily determine it. Is there any way of setting the mode in MuseScore so that it gets written as a element in the xml file? Ive been googling around, and this issue seems to be a long standing one... As it is stands, a student using MuseScore to create an input file to their program has to edit the actual xml and put the mode in by hand, which is obviously not a good solution. I think all other notation programs export the mode if its set in the notation, it would be terrific if Muse Score would do the same. Apologies if this is working now and I'm just not aware of the correct way to do it. Thanks for any reply!

I added an animated gif.
With the first method, the mode you want isn't actually defined and saved (bug).
With the second (workaround) method, the mod remains stable and can be saved.

Thank you very much for your quick reply and the gif -- both were really quite helpful! Is there a way to do this for Cmaj/Amin? With these keys there is no graphic symbol for me to cut/paste. I tried importing a "template" musicxml file with the mode preset, but when I write it back out again the mode element is missing.
Thank you for any help, I really appreciate it.

Yes, there is a workaround; Almost the same as before.
We put another Keysig on the first measure, then add the C major keysig on the second note (we do the mod adjustment here) and after that cut and paste it over the first keysig.
See attached GIF.
