Trombone notation - how do I get trombone to autoscore in tenor clef
Hi
I've been trying, and failing, to be able to write my trombone parts in tenor clef, but Musescore no longer appears to allow this automatically and if you change it then the score shows both the original clef and then the clef that the piece has been changed to. Does anyone know how this can be done?

MuseScore does offer ""Trombone (Treble Clef)" as an instrument, so just use that?

Thanks, but that's treble clef - I want tenor clef.

Then change to that. Just apply the tenor clef to the 1st measure (not to the 1st note!)

If you want to use tenor clef (or even alto perhaps) for trombone frequently you could create a custom instrument definition as described here https://musescore.org/en/handbook/developers-handbook/references/instru…. This would add Trombone (tenor clef), or whatever you decide to name it to the instrument list in the select/edit instruments dialogue.

Thanks - will try this.

Unfortunately I've tried that I end up with bass clef and then tenor clef, which just looks wrong

As mentioned, did you really added the clef to the measure (and not to the note)? See the difference between adding a clef at the beginning of a measure and a mid-measure clef: https://musescore.org/en/handbook/3/clefs#add.

Thanks, but yes, I had no notes on the clef at the time. If you look at the handbook example you've quoted, it seems to show that also.

Then select the measure rather then the rest before applying the clef.
Yes, the handbook shows what happend when applying the clef to a note/chord/rest, not what happanes when appyling it to the measure

Excuse me, but maybe you've selected the rest instead of the measure (https://musescore.org/en/handbook/3/selection-modes#select-single-object)? For me replacing a clef works in that way.
