Playback is not working
It was working fine a couple of weeks ago. Then I made a new score yesterday and playback doesn't work. I tried an older score, and it won't work on that one either. I tried re-downloading Musescore, and it didn't make a difference.

Thank you. I tried everything listed on the FAQ, and still no playback. I even uninstalled Musescore completely and re-downloaded it. Still no playback.

Add information (Operating system, other recently installed software, etc.) and attach a score (a *.mscz file).

Be sure to follow the instructions carefully, including #8, which asks you to include very specific info here. While you're at it ou might want to also double-check the others equally carefully to be sure you didn't miss some detail in those steps as well.

Dell laptop running Windows 10. No fancy stuff, no recent changes to software. On the "View" dropdown menu, Synthesizer and Mixer appear to be disabled (clicking on them does nothing, they are lighter in color, there is no box next to them).
I have tried reloading soundfont, I uninstalled and re-installed MuseScore, I reverted to default settings.

Did you do all the other things listed in that article? If so, then my next best guess is your audio drivers are only 32-bit, so you might need to contact the manufacturer of your computer or audio hardware to get 64-bit drivers. Failing that, you might need to install the 32-bit version of MuseScore.
