Changing voices to chords

I have created a score with 2 voices on each stave, both voices having the same note durations, (attached file: Beet 9 Horn 1-4 in F pg1_1.jpg). This of course puts the stems in opposite directions. However the score would look less cluttered if the stems were combined as in chords (attached file: Symphony_Nº9__The_Choral.mscz).

Is there a way of converting voices into chords, please, or do I have to input everything again?

I have tried converting voice 2 to voice 3 but while that puts the stems the same way, quavers and shorter notes have their own beams in both voices; and that looks even worse.
