strange gray little lines in my score
can anyone tell me what these little gray horizontal lines are? see screenshot
they look like tenuto lines but they aren't
they're all over my score, I'd like to be able to select them all and delete them all at once -- but they don't seem to be selectable

Those mean that the measure has fewer beats than would be expected from the time signature. Without the actual score we can't tell why they're there, but the solution to getting rid of them is to edit the measure to have the expected number of beats. Right-click each measure, choose "Measure properties" and change the "Actual duration" to match the time signature. Then edit the contents of the measure as needed.
