Import audio?
Is it possible to import audio and beat map with Muscore 4?
I used to transcribe music with Transcribe! As playback and Guitar Pro for notation. Then Guitar Pro 8 came along with the audio integrated into the application and the ability to map bars from the transcription to the audio file. this was a total game changer in terms of workflow improvement. However, I really dislike many things about Guitar Pro and am always looking for a better alternative. I see that Staffpad can do what I am looking for on i_ad but wondered if Musecore could do it on desktop.

That was a "No"...
Turning sound into notes is the same as unscrambling eggs

I'm not talking about turning notes into sound or sound into notes. It is simply a workflow for transcribing manually.

Guitar Pro can do it (but I don't like so much else about that program), Staff pad can do but its iPad only. It would be awesome if Musecore could do this and would definitely be enough to make me switch to using Musescore as my main notation software.

Thread title is "Import audio?"

Correct.
With Guitar Pro and Staff Pad they import an Audio file (MP3) and run this alongside the written score. I am not asking to Convert Audio merely Import the file into musescore. This way when transcribing something manually. The playback transport commands in the notation software also control playback of the audio file. If the bar lines are sync'd to the audio the notation and playback also align. It is a great feature which makes a super easy workflow inside a single program instead of having to switch back and forth between separate playback and notation softwares. Have a look at the Guitar Pro video I linked to to see what I mean.
Here is a link to the StaffPad version too.

As StaffPad now appears in the new Musehub I was wondering if the same functionality exists in Musecore yet. If not, I wonder if it is not the development roadmap as it would be great to have.

Yes. It is a killer workflow that makes life so easy. Guitar Pro is so Tab based that it makes writing a bit of a pain but the audio functionality just about makes it bearable.

I was hoping that the release of 4.2 might see something like this added to MuseScore but apparently not.
I also noticed a number of requests from film composers in the forum to be able to sync scores to video which is basically the same thing as I would like for audio.
Is there any chance that such a feature will be added in the foreseeable future as the lack of the ability to sync to audio (like Staffpad which I believe is owned by MuseScore) is the only thing stopping me from dumping GuitarPro (which I really dislike) and adopting MuseScore as my main notation software.
