new instrument problem
The clarinet doesn't sound right in this piece. Way to quiet and mushy. I admit it could be my ancient ears though. Looking for confirmation. I am using orchestra, Bb clarinet from the new sounds.
Thanks
John

I'm a one-time flautist, so I'm not competent to judge a clarinet sound. But to my ears the clarinet sound is a bit "plummy", and only a little too quiet. Acceptable (to me).

Thanks. It just seems I need to have the clarinet at mf to match the flute and oboe at p. Something like that. Then I noticed it changes when the clarinet gets into the register above a above middle c which, I believe, is the "break" of a clarinet.

Clarinet 'break' between chalumeau and clarion registers occurs between written middle line Bb and B nat. There is another, not so noticeable break between clarion and altissimo registers between written C and C# above the treble clef.
Muse Sounds seems to have some difficulty in replicating upwards jumps to the altissimo. See https://github.com/musescore/MuseScore/issues/14060

Yeah I knew that. Don't know why I said middle c. I believe it over-blows at an octave and a 5th instead of at an octave like other instruments.

Must be my sound system then. At "p" the opening clarinet is almost inaudible.

I have yet to figure out how to stay abreast of 4.0.x releases. Sounds like you're current as of these posts.
