Suggestion for improvement for visually impaired people

• Mar 14, 2023 - 20:14

Hello,
I have zoomed the score quite large because I can see very poorly. Thus, only a small section of the score is displayed. Now when I play the score, the note image shifts in jumps to the right. It would be better if the notes would scroll. Also, it would be good if the note that is being played would be displayed in a different color, for example in blue.
Thanks and best regards
Holger

It astonishes me that this not yet supported by MuseScore when viewing a score in Continuous mode. On YouTube there is a beautiful example produced 10 years ago apparently in Lilypond, with smooth scrolling and with the current note always towards the left of the screen. This allows maximum "read-ahead":

Admittedly the Lilypond score shown here doesn't have a cursor for the current position in the measure. Nevertheless it is so much easier to follow a smooth-scrolling score, even without a cursor.

Jojo, my apologies - you are absolutely right. MS3 does indeed scroll nicely in Continuous View. Partial excuse: my memory is not great and I only use Continuous View very rarely. ;-)

So this behaviour in MS4 is simply an ugly regression?

Hello Jojo, hello Daniel,
thank you very much for your answers which helped me a bit.
I have now downgraded MuseScore to version 3.6.2. I really like the Continuous View. It is also very good that the played note is marked in color. Unfortunately the scrolling does not work for me yet. What do I have to set so that the continuous view scrolls when playing the MIDI file so that the current note is always visible?
Thanks a lot
Ciao Holger
