Trill between brackets?

How can I do this? In MuseScore 4.

trill

Thank you!

Comments

  1. Create a Staff text above the dotted note, and enter the square brackets.
  2. With the Staff text selected, change the text to italic (in the Properties panel).
  3. Edit the Staff text so that cursor is between the two brackets.
  4. Open the Master palette (Shift+F9), go to the Symbols section at the end.
  5. Search for "trill", select the tr symbol to insert it into the Staff text.
  6. Close the Master palette (Esc key).
  7. Select the trill symbol and increase its font size from 10pt to 12pt (in the Properties panel).
  8. If you want playback, add a Trill from the Ornaments palette and make it invisible.

... and that is a very long-winded process. If you need this bracketing regularly, you can move your custom ornament from a score into the Ornaments palette with Ctrl+Shift+drag (Mac = Cmd+Shift+drag).

You might need to experiment with the font size of the tr, because 12pt looks a bit too small:

I noticed that the font of this new trill text is different from the "real symbol"

Yes, the trill symbol from the Ornaments palette uses whichever music font is set in
Format > Style ... > Score > Musical symbols font (default = Leland)

But the trill symbol from the Master palette (Symbols section) seems to be stuck with the Bravura font:

I am out of my depth here... We need someone close to the MuseScore code to explain whether there is any way round this problem of non-matching fonts.
