I know that this works for slurs, but maybe not ties. For slurs, go to the properties panel. I hope this works for ties too.

Also called the inspector, if you’re using version 3.
I didn't know this until now, but I tried it and it does.

Select the tie
In the properties tab (press F8 if it doesn't show) select between solid, 2 kinds of dashed ands dotted

I'm sorry, I must be doing something different.
I highlight a note, and then click on the 'tie' button on the toolbar above. The tie then appears. But, the inspector does not show anything about tie options.
I have MuseScore Version 3.

Select the tie, then check the Inspector

I select a note, click on the 'tie' button on the toolbar above, and then the tie appears. Then I right-click on the 'tie' button and select 'inspector'. The inspector shows the categories note, element, segment, chord, and note.
I don't see anything about tie options.

Okay, got it. I was not highlighting the tie before going to the inspector.

The inspector only inspects what is selected.

Can you please tell me how to shrink 3 measures that currently occupy part of a second staff into one staff?

Better start a new thread with an appropriate title and attach the score (.mscz file).

I originally had all 3 measures in one staff (in line) until I added some lyrics and then the 3rd measure jumped down to the next staff. It seems that there must be a way to get the 3rd measure to jump back up to the first staf so that all 3 measures are on one staff and in line.
