Musescore 4.4.4 on Mac

• Feb 8, 2025 - 12:32

I have permanent problems with that version of Musescore : sometimes the scores won't open, sometimes, the sound is not playing, and modifications are never functioning correctly : add an articulation, change the length of a note ... nothing is functioning : the thing you select stays in grey and won't work ! The problem is not recent : I fight for weeks now ! I quitted Musescore 100 times, I restarted my Mac 30 times, I changes my MacOS version from Sonoma to Sequoia ... nothing helps ! And I need my work to be done ! Please help !

I don't really remember how many versions I had of Musescore 4, but I know, I had already the same problems on the 20.th of January ... and it disappeared after a lot of restarts ... and it was ok the next weeks ... but now the same problems come again, and there is nothing to do.

I don't know what you mean exactly by "big screen (HP)"? But if you're talking about a TV monitor, there have been fairly frequent problems when using two or more monitors.

"I just noticed that the only time I could use Muse Score correctly the pas tweeks, was, as I disconnected my Mac from the big screen"

So you're telling us that MuseScore works properly without this 2nd screen? Right? In that case, the cause-and-effect relationship seems clear.

Lately, there's been this kind of issue: https://github.com/musescore/MuseScore/issues/24232
But it's been solved for version 4.4.3, so it's something else (or related, specific to your system?)

Eventually, go to menu "Diagnostic" / Save diagnostic files / Save and attach the resulting ZIP file.

I personally won't be able to exploit it (well, I don't think I will), but people who are more expert in this field may find some clues.

I can confirm : I tried again, and every thing is OK when I am not connected to my second monitor ... and I can add an other information : If I begin my work on my Mac only, I can continue a while after connecting my second monitor but working on the Mac screen ... I can even move my MuseScore sheet on the external display and continue a few minutes .... and then, there is a moment where nothing goes again, and at that point I won't be able to quit MuseScore normally, nor to choose save/not save : I can only force to quit, independently of the display I use (when I come back to the Mac display, it is not better).

I read the link about display problems, in my case, the whole application always stays on one monitor, it is just like frozen : I can't validate any choice. I send you a diagnostic file I just made. I would naturally be very interested to know how I can use MuseScore on both displays safely !

Thank you for your great help and please excuse my poor english !
