No sound in MuseScore 2.0.2
Hey people of musescore,
I'm running MuseScore 2.0.2 on a Macbook Pro (yosemite) and I'm getting no sound feedback from the app as I enter notes and play back my work. I have gone into the mixer window and in the drop down menu beside Sound: there are no options and none are selected. I've tried moving Musescore to trash and reinstalling it but this didn't work.
I've attached an image of what I mean by no options in the sound menu.
If any of you know how to fix this I'd really appreciate your help :)

Try https://musescore.org/en/handbook/revert-factory-settings-0#instruction…
I have exactly the same problem, and the "revert to factory settings" option of pasting that code into the terminal made absolutely no difference. Is there anything else to be done?
Ok, when nothing else worked, I went to preferences > I/O, then switched from Port Audio to Jack Audio server, restarted MuseScore, then switched back to Port Audio, then restated MuseSore again, and now the sound works perfectly. I have no idea why that fixed it, but it was the only thing that worked for me after months of not having sound, so it's worth a try.

This worked on Windows too. Thanks!

I did exactly as you described on my MacBook Air, and still no sound. Volume settings on View Synthesizer and View Playpanel and on my Mac are all midrange so there should be sound. Anything else to try? Oh, and I did the factory reset and that didn't help either. Strange.

Strange indeed that didn't work. Per https://musescore.org/en/node/96811, can you try manually installing a SoundFont? GeneralUser is a very good one that doesn't take too long to download.

You are a champion! Once I figured out what I/O (Input/Output) was I went to Systems Preference/Sound/Output and clicked Internal Speakers-Built- in on. Impressed my husband - I am the bomb!
I am having the same issue with MuseScore 2.1.0 on OSX Sierra

See #234811: No sound on Mac and Windows, I/O's PortAudio API drop down menu empty
The issue should be fixed in cae320e (master) and 596f6c2 (2.2). See #234811: No sound on Mac and Windows, I/O's PortAudio API drop down menu empty for details.
