Add 2 especific new instruments on the instrument list
Hi everyone,
I am a Brazilian 7-string-classical-guitar-player and I always wrote for this specific instrument, its same thing as the 6 string classical guitar, but with one more bass string (the tune is B1), I don't know how to change de instruments list and I always have to change a 6-string guitar staff and tab to a 7-string one. Anyone can help me to make this programming change? I don't know how to programming.
There is one more request, I always wrote to a Brazilian instrument called "Cavaquinho" and a want to add this one to. The specifications are:
Cavaquinho (4-strings guitar)
1º string - D5
2º string - B4
3º string - G4
4º string - D4
19 frets
you can use de the Steel String guitar MIDI as the sound
It's wrote in a standard G Staff
Thanks everyone! =)

Both, the 7 string and the 4 string one are steel-strung? The 7-sing one uses treble clef and transposed an octave or uses treble clef 8vb?

the 7 string guitar have nylon strings - like the classical guitar and uses the treble clef 8vb like the classical guitar either, but the range changes, it can go until B1.

Hello guitarist! :)
See the templates:
7-string guitar:
1) Standard notation only: 7 strings.mscz
2) Standard + Linked Tab staff (I don't know your preference, use case?): 7 strings + linked TAB.mscz
Cavaquinho:
1) Standard notation: Cavaquinho2.mscz
2) Standard + Linked Tab staff: Cavaquinho + Linked TAB2.mscz
NB: see in the handbook how to customize the tuning, number of strings: https://musescore.org/en/handbook/tablature#edit-string-data

Thanks for #271103: Add 7-string guitar and Cavaquinho (4-strings guitar)
Hmm, for some reason I I now get "Access denied" on that

Need to adjust the range for those 7-string guitar templates, down by 5 semitones

OK, that should give enough information to add it into instruments.xml.
Could you add that request into the issue tracker please? see https://musescore.org/en/node/add/project_issue?pid=1236
Until that becomes part of an official release there are cadiz1's templates for the rescue ;-)

I added it there, do you think that it will be ready on the next version? I don't know how this process works, thank you very much! =)

Just a clarification: I saw the conversation on GitHub. Indeed, by doing quickly and both and in same time, and by a kind of idiotic parallelism, I made a template of a tablature of four lines for the cavaquinho, instrument of four strings, which is correct.
And a tablature of seven lines, for the Brazilian guitar, violao, seven strings, which is incorrect.
So, not seven-line Tab, my bad.

So it is suposed to be 6 lines Tab for that particular 7-String instrument?
Also I'm somewhat unsure where the difference between a Cavaquinho and an Ukulele is, except for the name. Just different tuning?

"So it is suposed to be 6 lines Tab for that particular 7-String instrument?"
Indeed, as far I know (maybe some less common practices, but I am not aware of that right now)
"Also I'm somewhat unsure where the difference between a Cavaquinho and an Ukulele is, except for the name. Just different tuning?"
Different tuning indeed. The only other difference is the steel strings (nylon strings for ukulele), hence the choice of the sound of an acoustic guitar for the cavaquinho.

OK, good enough a reason to really add Cavaquinho. And not adding 7-string tab would simplify the PR greatly, but I'd rather have @Lucas Madi's opnion on that too.
