Duplicate Measures (including bar lines, repeats, text, etc)
Hello, sorry if this has been answered somewhere, but I've searched high and low and can't get the Duplicate function to work.
I'm on a Mac, MuseScore 2.2.1, and have been trying to duplicate a passage (including all markings, text, repeats, etc). The handbooks says "Hold down Ctrl+Shift (Mac: Cmd+Shift), click on the element and drag it anywhere in the score." I've been doing that, but it doesn't work. I also don't see a "Duplicate" command anywhere in the menu.
What am I doing wrong?
Is "Duplicate" something I have to enable first?
Thanks,
Dimitri

Ctrl-Shift works on an element, not a passage or a range.
Indeed, the "duplicate" function is a pretty obscure special-purpose function; it isn't what you want. You are looking for ordinary copy and paste, which works the same way as most other programs: select an element, group of elements, or region, then Ctrl+C to copy, then click the desintation location, Ctrl+V to paste.
Thanks for everyone's assistance!
I guess my question is really:
Is there a way to copy and paste everything that's in a measure (or measures) including text, barlines, repeats, chords, etc. (see hightailed measures in the attached screenshot).
Thanks!
Dimitri

No, but it's been requested. Hopefully system items (like System text, repeats and key signatures) will be able to be copied. Instrument or note specific things like staff text and chords can be copied already using standard copy and paste techniques.

ah, ok, so it's just not possible now. Good to know, thanks!

Apparently (but not for developers) this very much needed feature is still not implemented after almost two years. Sure, developers don't feel the pain in the neck, when you try to combine several big parts into one with lots of time signature changes and lots of repeats. The simple act of copy and paste turns into hours of painful waste of precious time.

We all hoped for the Album feature to come back much earlier, which would have helped here. It has been reimplemented now, but only for MuseScore 4, and even there is not yet merged.

For the record, in open source software, "the developers" are we users. So indeed, no user with programming skills so far seems bothered enough by this to contribute their skills to the project and implement this. Hopefully at some point some user will be bothered enough to volunteer!

6 years later, has this been addressed? I would love to crowdfund a developer to finally do this if it hasn't!

There's a version for my 3.7, see https://github.com/Jojo-Schmitz/MuseScore/pull/79
But still no movement at all for Mu4 :-(

I thought the thing I had to do was fast, just copy and paste. But now I have to stay up for much of the night. Thank you developers.
Thanks for your help, everyone!
