Delete triplet, causing problems
Hi, I have the most recent update of Musescore, 2.2.1, Revision 51b8386, and I am having a problem that I have not had in the past. If I have a triplet that I want to delete and change to two 8th notes or a quarter note, I delete the "3" triplet indicator. The first time it is deleted, it removes the triplet, but does not put a quarter rest in its place ... just a blank spot. I.E. in a 4-beat measure, it shows only 3 beats. I have to ctrl-Z back to the original triplet and repeat the process, and that usually gives me the expected behavior of replacing the triplet with a quarter rest. That is my work-around, so I can move forward. It is just an aggravating slow down of my editing a large score.
Thought I would report it. Not sure if you are aware of that behavior. -OR- is there another way I should be removing a triplet? I can't paste into a triplet, so wondering if there is a better way.
Thanks for great software!!

select the 3, then in inspector, down at the bottom, press the Tuplet button, then hit Del

That shouldn't be necessary. Sounds like a regression to me.
The other way to delete a triplet is to click the first note, shift click the last note and press delete. That should leave your quarter rest.

True, that should not be needed. And is not when I try.
So we need exact steps to reproduce and a sample score

Thanks for the quick responses. Before going that route, let me add ... I am working on a file I got from a midi ... used Finale notepad to open it (found it is the cleanest) ... exported to MusicXML and opened the file in Musescore and saved it as a MSCZ. Could there be a fluke in that process? Problem is that so many swing songs are "heard" as triplets and they are all over the score.
Anyway, Mike320's method is perfect for what I need. THANKS!

PS: will send sample score if you want to pursue that, Jojo

Why not import the MIDI in MuseScore directly?

Good question. I have not tried it since an earlier version. It did not come out as clean as with BrandX notepad :) ... I'll give it a shot and save some steps.

Well, I gave it a shot. This is just FYI. See the sample results compared in the attached file.

Bad. Isn't there an option to toggle swing detection?

The swing detection setting is all the way to the right and probably not visible without scrolling.

I know just enough about this stuff to be dangerous :). When you say "to the right" what screen are you referring to? I don't see it. However, my major problem with the midi import is the way the treble clef and bass clef markings are interchanged on the same instrument staffs. There is just too much editing necessary to make it worth my while ... unless I am missing some major step.

When you open a Midi file a toolbar/dialog box appears below the score with about 15 options. There is a list of midi channels, and options for each. In the top left is an x to close the box and at the bottom is a scroll bar (that may not show up on larger screens) so you can see the options that are on the right of the screen.
BTW, simply open the MIDI file using MuseScore and this box should appear.
