Can only add open notes on tab?
Hello! I am trying to write a tab, but whenever I enter in notes, i try to use my keyboard to change the notes by pressing the number that i want it to show, to indicate which fret to play. I can't do that; I can only enter in open notes! I have no idea what to do, and i forget which version i use. I know that i use Musescore 2, but that's about it. Any help is appreciated!

I know how, but whenever I try to enter in a fret number, it won't work. I checked, and it is version 2.1.0

What goers wrong when you try? Can you attach the score you are having trouble with, and describe precisely - step by step - what you are doing, what you expect to see happen, and what happens instead? Assuming you are following the instructions correctly, it should work fine and does for me. BTW< 2.1 is pretty old at this point, best to update to the current version (2.3.1).

My concern is, if I update, will I lose my scores? Maybe this is the issue, and if it still presists after I update, I will be sure to come here again.

No, you won't lose a thing, except some bugs :-)
I tried it on a different score, and it worked fine! Maybe I selected something on the other score to make it not work... but I don't know what.
My guess is that you changed the string tuning and checked the Open string option next to the string pitch when you edited it. Remove the checks and you'll be able to enter frets.
