Please : Guitar Bends, tapping? How to make them look nice!
Hi guys, I'm working on some guitar tabs with bends and they look awful! Is there any way of stretching them out so they not all squished together? I guess a workaround would be to insert an image into the score, but it's a pretty crazy way to go about doing it! See bar one of attached example.
Another issue with the tab editing is it would be nice to be able to put a 'box' around the fretboard number to indicate using right-hand tapping technique. It is quite common in guitarist magazine and transcription books to see these things notated clearly and I'm struggling to do it with Musescore. I can use the box notehead to indicate tapping, but it is pretty useless to indicate what should be tapped on the tab.
I've mostly used Musescore for acoustic guitar where bends and finger tapping are rarely used. Any way to make it make nicer looking scores-tab for electric?
Cheers,
Keith

Indeed, it's a known behaviour (issue). See: #93191: Bend tool: notation and layout problems
About "right-hand tapping technique": symbols are available in the Symbols palette ("Z" shortcut: type 'tap' in the search box, image below)

Cadiz1,
Very helpful, thanks I didn't think to look there!
Hopefully they'll fix the bend function one day, there isn't really a decent workaround I can think of except using slur and explaining that it is a bend with text. I suppose if I want the bend sound which does work I can just make the ugliness invisible!
I'll work on it bit and see what I can come up with.
Cheers
Keith

Observe first that this issue ("all squished together") occurs when the notes are located from the top line and above. It's common of course, and so this displaying is unexpected, I agree.
Another workaround: use another note to apply another bend, eg measure 3 on your file.
So:
On the first beat: to the G quarter note, add a C, eg (in voice 2, or voice 1, in this last case, the stem must be shortened)
Then, add a bend to this C.
Untick "playback" of this note, in Inspector, and made invisible it, as well the "first" (squished) bend. At the end, move the "new" bend where as you want.
