How to change the length of a 8va line.
In my music, I need to shorten the line from the 8va to stop in the middle of a measure, but i can't seem to be able to do it. If anyone could tell me how, I would appreciate it.

Double click on the 8va line to turn it blue and you can drag the 'handles' or use the arrow keys to lengthen/shorten the line.
See:

for a picture of what the 'handles' in edit mode look like.

Thank you very much :) It worked.

If you want any sort of correct play back, dragging will give you inaccurate results. Use the shift/arrow method to be sure.

If I double click on the 8va line (it actually says '8' for me, not '8va') I can change the blue handles however I want, but it will still only play the bar on which the 8va is placed an octave higher. There is a brown handle visible, which stays at the end of the bar, which indicates the length of the line. Unfortunately, I can't change this brown handle. Does anyone know how to still lengthen your 8va line?
The picture shows the longer-made blue handle and the brown handle, which doens't change.
Thanks in advance.

You must use shift + right arrow to extend the volta, or any line, to the right or shift + left arrow to move the end to the left. When the ottava is in edit mode it defaults to the "modern" view, but it's supposed to switch back when it leaves edit mode.
