How do I use Musescore to convert midi/kar files into lead sheets, fake music?

Maurice, Have you found a solution to your own question yet? I ran across this post looking for the same answer. I am using a Tyros2 keyboard and when I play a midi that I recorded it shows up on the screen of the keyboard in lead sheet style but as soon as I import it into MuseScore it separates each part of the style into traditional sheet music notation. Not what I want. If the keyboard can display the chords it must be in the midi code somewhere.

MIDI has notes, it doeSn't have any indication of chord symbols. So there is absolutely nothing except your own human ingenuity to tell MsueScore which of those notes are melody, which are meant to represent chord accompaniment, or how those chord symbols should be notated. There is no magic in the world - if you want to convert sheet music into a lead sheet, you'll have to examine the music and decide for yourself which notes are important and which can be deleted, and what chord symbols to add.

I have found a solution. There is a plugin that does it. It has been updated for V3. Just go to the plugin page and it is called chord identifier. It places the chords under the top staff which is a little weird but it is quicker to start there and make adjustments than starting from scratch combing through multiple G and Bass clef staffs.

Can you explain what specifically you want to see happen other than just seeing the notes appear? I'm very familiar with lead sheets, and if your MIDI file it set up that way, what you get on import should already look like a lead sheet. What are you wanting to see that you aren't seeing already? Maybe attach a MIDI file and a a picture of what you want it to look like?
