Filed in #284874: "Save online" doesn't work on Mac with MuseScore 3.0.3
This is a big surprise. After installing 3.0.3, now 3.0.2 (20666) fails in the same way. 3.0.1 does not. Went through it twice to make sure I wasn't being faked out. The bad one did something to my environment hurting 3.0.2, if this helps anyone.

Make sense, the dialog had changed in 3.0.2.
Brings up a new idea: does a factory reset fix it? For 3.0.3 and/or 3.0.2?
In reply to This is a big surprise. … by [DELETED] 1831606
I'm investigating and damn, it stopped working in MuseScore 3.0.2, too! musescore.com is believed to be the reason since it updated some cookie policies recently.
@BSG did you use the Save Online feature after February 13? If so, did it work ok until the update to MuseScore 3.0.3?
In reply to I'm investigating and damn,… by Anatoly-os
I certainly did, (but on Windows)
In reply to I'm investigating and damn,… by Anatoly-os
I use it almost every day. I must have used it hundreds of times since Feb 13, as recently as yesterday, but I do not know if I (had previously) downloaded and used 3.0.2.

Just a guess about why 3.0.2 doesn't work now. QT files are replaced if they are newer than the existing ones, so the problem is related to the QT files installed with 3.0.3. Apparently 3.0.1 interacts with one differently than 3.0.2 or 3.0.3? Didn't you change QT versions in 3.0.3 for mac?

3.0.2 just worked for me the second time I tried the dialog (I ran it from /Volumes). But I'm not upgrading to it. 3.0.1 continues to work. Where are the QT files kept? Are they not in the MuseScore.app tree?

They should

I don't think they get replaced when newer, 3.0.2 and 3.0.3 do use different Qt version (5.12.0 vs. 5.12.1), but bring their's along.
Unless on Mac this works differently...

Nope. I found the fix. HTTP cache is the reason and clearing the cache fixes the issue. But it can be done only programmatically.
Another idea that some changes on .com led to this behaviour is still valid.

Can you explain this better (why HTTP cache causes it)? A re-release is necessary anyway for the Piano problem.

See my comment below ;)
In this bug report post, I clearly am using 3.0.2.20666, and am even complaining about another problem with the login system. https://musescore.org/en/node/283661 . But that is from the 6th. But 3.0.2 IS .20666, so I'm confused about why the same doesn't work now.

BSG, which OS do you use?
In reply to BSG, which OS do you use? by Anatoly-os
OS: macOS Mojave (10.14), taken from https://musescore.org/en/node/284864

@Jojo, You still don't experience the issue on Windows, do you?
In reply to You still don't experience… by Anatoly-os
No, it still works

10.14.3 to be exact.
@cschaljo, @BSG please download the https://s3.amazonaws.com/utils.musescore.org/Experimental_Master_3.1_Cl…. This is the locally built master branch which clears Web related cache in MuseScore. Unzip the archive and run the application, click Save Online. If login window appears correctly in this package, just close it because it did its work. This should fix Save Online for 3.0.2. You can keep using MuseScore 3.0.2 until we deploy the fix to the next patch update (which is supposed to be very soon) or fix the issue on .com side.
In reply to @cschaljo, @BSG please… by Anatoly-os
Ah, lol. Just realised that it fixes 3.0.3 as well. Good. Most probably the issue is not in the editor itself, so we will investigate the .com side in about 12 hours :)
In reply to @cschaljo, @BSG please… by Anatoly-os
I tried to open/execute it, including with admin privileges, and it said "There was a problem", not more specific than that, and did not execute it successfully. With more research, it hit this:
dyld: Library not loaded: /usr/local/opt/libvorbis/lib/libvorbisfile.3.dylib
In reply to I tried to open/execute it,… by [DELETED] 1831606
yes, same here, no joy. btw I'm on high sierra. (btw) i opened another thread with saving, closing and then getting an error" musescore has unexpectedly quit." related?
We finally found and fixed the issue on the website side. If one downloads new version of the editor, the problem won't appear. Btw, current users will have the issue until cache expires.
The build which clears the cache (in all versions) will be available soon. I'll add the link a bit later.

This is a nightly build which contains fixes for both the Piano and the Save online issues. If you want to fix the Save online issue, just open Save Online widget in this version. After that, Save Online in 3.0.3 should be fixed.

Wouldn't a nightly store it's stuff in a different place than a release?
In reply to Wouldn't a nightly store it… by Jojo-Schmitz
Nope. Webengine (Chromium actually) stores the cache in one place. It fixes the case for me, btw.
In reply to Wouldn't a nightly store it… by Jojo-Schmitz
I'm in on that, save online does indeed work, thanks Anatoly-os! Don't wan't to be a grouch, do the preferences et al come over? mine did not....

Same here, works for me. Like to see it as real release.
