Fretboard diagrams in Musescore 3
When I make a fretboard diagram the fret numbers disappear after saving.

Which version are you using.
If you haven't tried 3.1-beta2 then I suggest you try that. Fretboard diagrams went through a major renovation and had a lot of bugs fixed.

I am using version 3.0.5.5992. I could try the 3.1 beta, but could the problem be caused by conflict with the previous version of Musecore 2.3.2? I still have that installed.

No way. 3.x doesn't know 2.x exists.
#283681: [EPIC] Fretboard diagram issues has a list of known fretboard diagram bugs. Those that are colored are either fixed or duplicates of other bugs. Those with no highlight are probably not yet fixed.

We appreciate that you tested it. The beta version is as stable as (or more so than) 3.0.5. I use it all the time now to help testing it and to get the benefits of the improvements.
