Beaming in voices
I'm transcribing the music in 4/4 time shown in the attached pdf (this is an extract of course). It's an instrumental study piece (for horn actually)
Entering the last beat of bar 1 and all of bar 2 involves a separate voice for the notes with downward stms.
See attached .mscz score file to see what I have done so far. Voice 2 has to have all the notes or rests of the complete bar, so I've made some of the symbols invisible.
The only thing remaining is to make the beaming of the notes in Voice 2 in the last beat of bar 1 and the whole of bar 2 match the original. I've tried various ways, but without success.
Can anyone tell me how to do that please.
Incidentally I think there is an ambiguity in these beats in the original, and I wonder if duplet quavers are intended when playing Voice 2. These are supposed to be an easier version, and duplets would make sense. But that does not need to be spelled out in my new score.

Simple: select the (invisible) 8th rests and apply the 'beam middle' from the beams palette. See also https://musescore.org/en/node/11370

Many thanks indeed for the prompt reply. It worked of course - I just hadn't thought of doing that! When I think of beaming I think of notes not rests, but one obviously has to be broad-minded!

I haven't seen that before, but if I did, I would interpret it as an alternative rhythm. I don't play the horn, so this is sort of related. Do you really think the octave plus jump duplet is easier than the triplets with a note between? When I played the Tuba I would think the extra note would help accommodate the jump to the bottom.

I think the voice 2 notes are supposed to be played as duplet quavers, and the printer has decided that to show duplets literally, with correct spacing (i.e. with the 2nd voice 2 quaver half-way between the 2nd and 3rd voice 1 quavers) would confuse the performer.
Incidentally, I've tried to change the mscz score to display voice 2 as correctly spaced duplets, but I can't make it do that. Not important - at least on this occasion!
As to playing, I do think the duplets in voice 2 would be easier to play than the voice 1 version, as more time.
In my practice I will be starting with the duplets - slowly of course - then trying to get to the voice 1 version.
