As noted in the above post, the horizontal frame is not visible with single line (e.g., percussion) staff because the default frame width is too narrow. One has to increase the staff to more than one line to be able to select and adjust the parameters of the inserted horizontal frame. To create, append a horizontal frame to a single-line measure.

This bug may be related to the online player bug where measures of a single staff line are not highlighted during playback because the measure heights are 0px:
"Bug: Measures not highlighted during playback"

relates to #271331: [EPIC] Positioning, symbols, notation related issues
Also relates to #290410: Barlines on a 1 line percussion staff. The easiest way to fix all of these issues is probably to treat a 1 line staff as though it is a 3 line staff, but with only the middle line being visible. The invisible top and bottom lines would become the new boundaries for all layout calculations (barline height, frame height, playback highlighting, stave separation, etc).

Any progress in fixing this major bug?
I doubt anyone has looked at it. But the workaround seems simple enough - temporarily add another staff or increase number of lines.

I suspect this bug is what is preventing the online player from highlighting the measures on a single line percussion staff. (see above): https://musescore.com/user/4534311/scores/5591740
That score doesnt exist (anymore) or is set to be private.

Another online example of a single line staff not showing play cursor likely because of this bug.

Seems fixed, probably as part of the fix for #290409: Stave brackets disappear on a 1 line percussion staff
