How to copy to a new score

How do I copy music from one score to a new score? When I use the "copy and Paste" function the notes are not the same. (Frankly, I find your online search tool useless, but I get terrific answers from the community, for which I am deeply grateful.)

Copy and paste should work the same between scores as within a score. Not sure what you mean about the notes not being the same, maybe one of the instruments is a transposing instrument like trumpet or clarinet, in which case it's correct for the music to be transposed accordingly. If that doesn't explain it, please attach the scores and give precise steps to reproduce the problem.

HI Marc,
Thank you; I am sincerely grateful for your prompt reply and offer of help. This is the situation: I downloaded a score from MuseScore. I transposed it to key of C. But it has three lines, and I just want one.... so I created a new, blank document. When I tried to copy measures from the original to the blank, the notes came out one octave lower on the new document. I don't know how to fix that. ? I attach the original file, and I attach the new file.... where I started to enter notes by hand (in frustration). Again,, thank you for your help.

You have two instruments in the first score (without MD) and one instrument in the second (with MD). The first instrument in the first score is a guitar which transposes and octave so when you paste it into a harp, you expect the notes to be in a different octave. To fix this, past the notes into the harp and press ctrl+up arrow to move the notes to the correct octave.

Note: a guitar is a transposing instrument by exactly one octave. The average musician probably does not realize this but this must be taken into account when you copy and paste into another instrument.
