Be sure to add the symbol to the barline, not anything else, that way it needs only a small adjustment and more important will survive changes to measure widths. Also, you can add it to your own palette for easy reuse, just drag form the Symbol palette.
Yes, hopefully someday there will be native support, but there is nothing planned at the moment.

Press Z and, in the search box, type 'Repeat'. Translations are updated but are not always applied to components such as Master palette or palettes.
Does resizing the Master palette (still on 3.2.3) make the symbols disappear?

But is more complex to find, and it doesn't fit the interested bars: it must to be handly placed and hiding the bars pauses...
