Double accidentals when using layers
When using the layers for choral I'm getting double accidentals. For example the baritone and bass line are written on the same staff line in this arrangement. Layer 1 baritone stem is up, layer 2 bass stem is down. Both are singing a unison note that I've designated as flat. Two flats appear next to the note because of two layers making it appear that one note has a double flat. How do I rid myself of the second flat?

With layers you mean voices? (MuseScore calls it voices, Sibelius and/or Finale calls it layers)
If I use 2 voices in a score from the closed score SATB template, unison and with accidentales, I see only one accidentel for both notes:

Welcome, using the arrows up / down trying to move the Voice 2
if they are in unison the result should be as in the attached.
Could you attach here your score?
use the "File attachments" option at the bottom of the page, just above the Save and Preview buttons when you're typing your post.

What version of Musescore are you using? I seem to remember something like this happening with an earlier version.

I'm using version 2.0.3.1. Attached is what I'm getting.

Interesting, how exactly did you do this?
Ah, I guess you explicitly added (courtesy) accidentals to the notes via the accidentals palette. Don't do that (unless you really want courtsy accidentals), use the up/down keys instead.

up and down keys are being used now and all problems have ceased! Thank you.

Still learning new terminology. Finale is what I'm getting away from.
Here is what happens to me. Thanks.

That did it! Thank you!
If you are adding an accidental in both voice 1 and voice 2 it will show the accidental on each voice.
Here's what I do, enter voice 1 with accidentals. Enter voice 2, when I get to a unison note on voice 2 enter the note without an accidental. Voice 2 will show a courtesy accidental from the key signature. Delete the courtesy accidental and the notes will play unison as you expect. If the notes are on top of each other then click the next visible note or rest in voice 2 and left arrow until the note you are entering is selected. The bottom left hand corner of the MS window will show you which note is to be played.
Here's a little example.
If you add an accidental to a note MuseScore will do exactly what it says on the tin - it will add an accidental wehther or not one already exists in the Key signature or in another notes of the same pitch. If, however, you move the note using UpArrow or DownArrow then MuseScore tries to get smart about placing accidentals and usually gets it right; if it doesn't then a quick Up/Down or Down/Up usually sorts it.
